Sat, Sep 12th 2009 - indigo journal in The West Australia
On Saturday 12th September The West Australian is publishing a special literary edition of the West Weekend Magazine. Three indigo writers will be featured.
The editorial team working on thiis publication chose a story and two poems from the new volume of indigo to be launched in Albany on 18th September by David Malouf and in Perth and on 22nd October by Jon Doust.
West Weekend chose 'The Wild', by Nicole Sinclair, 'The Amity' a poem by Paula Jones and 'Blue Chinoise Dress' a poem by Anya Seabourne.
Anya Seabourne, who recently moved to Margaret River, will be known to Perth readers and writers for her involvement with New Edition Bookshop when it was in South Terrace and the Writers Festival when it was located in Fremantle. Anya has been writing, reading and books all her life and her work has been published in local publications. She says that indigo journal is the most prestigious publication she has had.
Nicole Sinclair, also now living in Margaret River, has been writing for a long time, but didn't send her work out until last year when she submitted to indigo volume 3. Richard Rossiter selected her story 'Bloodlines' for that volume and her short story 'Undergrowth' was selected by Amanda Lohrey for this new volume along with her memoir of Africa 'The Wild', selected by Chris Pash—which will appear in The West Magazine.
Paula Jones lives in the Perth Hills and is the chairperson of Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre. She, too, has been writing for a long time and her work has been published in local publications. She was published in the inaugural volume of indigo and last year was selected for Australia's most prestigious poetry publication journal Blue Dog.
